Dodge Challenger Demon 170: You Can Buy Its Engine

To celebrate the departure of the Challenger in grand style, Dodge has created a series of special editions, each more interesting than the last. That is until the American manufacturer unveiled its ultimate alteration, the Challenger Demon 170.

This muscular beast is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that boasts a colossal power output of 1,025 horsepower and 945 pound-feet of torque. This is even more powerful than the previous Demon, which had a maximum power of 840 horsepower. It's understood that special fuel is required to achieve such power. Indeed, to benefit from the full 1,025 horses, you need to fill up with ethanol (E85). If you can't find this fuel, a full tank of Super gasoline still allows the car to deliver 900 horsepower and 810 pound-feet of torque.

The Dodge Challenger Demon 170 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 in 1.66 seconds, which is ridiculously fast. It's a very special car, to say the least, as its production was limited to just 300 units for Canada. In other words, good luck getting your hands on one without paying a ridiculous sum.

A New Heart Available

If what interests you is what's under the hood of the Challenger Demon 170, today's your lucky day. Dodge has decided to add the engine of its muscle car to its catalog of spare parts. You just need to search for "Hellephant C170 Supercharged Crate Hemi Engine" to find it.

As you might imagine, this engine is far from cheap. We're talking about $27,695 USD, which is over $38,000 Canadian. Just so you know, you could get a brand-new entry-level Dodge Challenger for practically the same amount. However, you'd be far from having the same power at your disposal.

The Dodge Challenger might be reaching the end of its career, but its legacy remains strong thanks to the Hellephant C170 engine and all the other powertrains found in the manufacturer's spare parts catalog. Now, all that's left is to see who will buy this engine and, more importantly, what they'll install it in. I don't know about you, but if I had the means, it's clear that my project would take the form of a Grand Caravan with over 1,000 horses.
