Dodge Charger 2024: What Do We Think?

It took quite a while, but Dodge has finally delivered its next-generation Charger. Moreover, the American manufacturer didn't do things by halves, choosing the famous city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for its unveiling.

The new Charger succeeds the previous-generation Charger and Challenger, which had been on the market for almost two decades. Needless to say, the new muscular car from the American manufacturer has stirred up a lot of discussion in recent days.

A Retro-Modern Look

The 2024 Dodge Charger presents itself as a two-door coupe heavily inspired by the 1960s model with a futuristic signature. This design received significant criticism in the hours following its unveiling. However, this isn't unusual, especially for such a highly publicized launch. In my opinion, the Charger's design is rather successful, and it's a car that is likely to attract new buyers.

For now, there's only a two-door version, but the manufacturer is reportedly working on a four-door variant, confirming that the new Charger is here to replace the old Charger and the Challenger.

A Refined Interior

Dodge has made a significant leap forward with the dashboard of the new Charger, which is more modern and sophisticated than anything the brand has presented to us so far. You can get a digital dashboard of either 10.25 or 16 inches depending on the chosen version. Meanwhile, the multimedia system is displayed on a 12.3-inch screen. The dashboard design is fluid and enveloping. A luminous strip that extends into the door panels connects everything. In addition to offering 64 different colors, this light strip is programmed to change color in various situations, making it even more interactive.

Breath-Taking Performance

Of course, the hottest topic of conversation revolves around the mechanical aspect of the new Charger. First, let me reassure you, the muscular car from the American manufacturer won't be solely electric. Indeed, Dodge will equip its beast with a Hurricane inline-6 engine that develops between 420 and 550 horsepower depending on the version. As for the electric version, it will be equipped with a 100.5 kWh battery pack. This powers two electric motors. The electric Charger will be offered in two versions. First, there's the R/T model with a power output of 496 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque. Dodge claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 13.1 seconds, which is quite fast considering the car's weight. Finally, where the Charger R/T shines even more is in terms of range, as it can travel up to 510 kilometers on a full charge. The muscular car from the American manufacturer will also be offered in a Scat Pack version with a power output of 670 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. The 0-60 mph time drops to 3.3 seconds here, and the quarter-mile to 11.5 seconds. However, this additional power reduces the maximum range to 418 kilometers.
